Cooking School

The Taste of Home Cooking School will be back in Clinton on May 6th! Piggly Wiggly is a major sponsor of this event as we furnish the food for the event as well as bags full of groceries and a bunch of free items for attendees. If you like to watch the Food Network, you’ll be right at home here! Come out and join in the fun in this community event. Vendor booths will be open at 4pm and the show will start at 6. You can get your tickets at Piggly Wiggly at Jordan Plaza or Shamrock Plaza. Save a few bucks by getting them in advance. Actually, you probably want to get them in advance to insure you get a ticket! Last year was sold out and with all the positive comments of last years show, I am absolutely sure that this year will sell out as well.

The Sampson Independent ran an article last week that is available on their website by clicking on this link. Taste of Home Cooking Show

Come out for a fun evening and support your local businesses as we show off what we have to offer you, our valued customers.

Super Sprint

We recently helped to sponsor the 1st Sampson County Super Sprint. I thought everyone would like to see highlights of Mr. Pig at this event. We furnished the food station for the race.  We furnished water, soft drinks, bananas, bagels, and peanut butter for the participants. Special thanks to our friends at Pepsi Bottling Ventures for their generous support of our local community. We also had some Protein Rush and “Bang” workout drinks furnished by our NEW friends at VPX Sports and Europa FDM. Be on the lookout for these new and exciting items in our stores soon! I’ll quit chatting and let you see the video! Hope you enjoy watching as much as we did in participating!

PS make sure you watch till the end! You’ll see what can happen if you eat properly and exercise! Even Mr. Pig slimmed down. (even if his was only temporary)

Piggly Wiggly Jingle

OK, there has been some recent activity on Facebook concerning the OLD Piggly Wiggly Jingle. I have dug through the old files and managed to find a copy of the old Jingle. In fact, we still use it occaisionaly in some of our radio advertising. This is the actual ad version so you will hear some background music that is used for the voice over for the radio announcers to record our actual ad items. Listen and enjoy! Please post comments here!

Happy New Year from Piggly Wiggly

Wow! It’s hard to believe that another year has past. While this year has brought us a lot of difficulties as a country, we are starting to see some improvements and will continue to do so in the coming year. Our goal at your local Piggly Wiggly is to do as much as possible to help stimulate our local economy while offering our friends and neighbors a full service grocery shopping experience at extremely competitive  prices. We buy locally whenever we can and encourage you to do the same.  It’s New Years Eve however, so I’ll spare you the lesson in Economics!

Take this time to reflect on the past year. Relish your accomplishments and learn from your mistakes. Always look back with a goal of finding areas that we can improve on.  Instead of just setting New Year’s resolutions once a year, get in the habit of setting goals and obtaining them. As your local grocery store, our goal is to give you a great shopping experience. If, on occasion, that doesn’t occur, please let one of our Store Managers know so that we may find our areas of weakness to improve on.

Happy New Year from Piggly Wiggly!

Taking photographs of Christmas lights

Photographing Holiday Lights

Photographying Christmas Lights Greetings Fellow
Photographers!

Is your neighborhood glowing with holiday
lights? Mine is! I love this time of year…everything is lit up
with holiday cheer, which creates some fantastic photo
opportunities. As many of you have requested, here are some tips for
taking pictures of holiday lights, both outdoors and indoors. Enjoy!

Photography Outdoor Chrtistmas Lights example Outdoors
The most important tip for getting a great shot of an outdoor holiday light
display is to shoot at dusk. And by “dusk,” I mean the time just before the sky becomes pitch black, when there is just barely any natural light left, and the sky is a deep dark purple. This allows you to capture the house or building you are shooting, as well as
the lights. Put your camera in manual mode, and lower your ISO to around 200. Use a tripod and a 5 second exposure. Turn off the flash, and turn off autofocus if you can (manually focus if you are able to). Then, take a few shots and see how they are turning out.If they are lighter than you’d like, use a shorter exposure. If they
are dark, try a longer exposure.

As an alternative, you can try to use the night or low light setting on your camera and see if that works well for this shot. I still recommend keeping the camera on a tripod to avoid blur.

Indoors
Photography Indoor Chrtistmas Lights example Indoor displays or pictures of the tree can be tricky. Use a tripod and a slow shutter speed to capture some
ambient glow from the tree or display, and don’t use the flash unless there are people in your shot. Once you get the shot you are after, have fun with angles and close ups of the details of the indoor display or tree. Use the same suggestions and make minor
adjustments if needed. Have fun!
